Director of Centre of Contemporary Chinese Discourse Studies, Zhejiang U, and Qiushi Distinguished Professor, Shi-xu delivered a keynote speech at the 15th AILA conference in Essen, 24-29 Aug 2008. The title of his speech is: Reconstructing Eastern Paradigms of Discourse Studies; it showed the foundations, principles and strategies for reconstructing a set of new Asian, African and Latin American approaches to discourse research. The First Conference on Contemporary Chinese Discourse Studies was held successfully in Hangzhou between Dec. 27- 28, 2007.
A delegation from University of Turin (Italy) visited the institute on Sep. 20. The two sides had a friendly talk on the possibility of cooperation and exchange programs between the two universities.
A research seminar was held between 4:00pm – 6:00pm on Sep. 18 with the participation of master and PhD. Students, and teachers of the institute. Such seminar is scheduled every two weeks to encourage the involvement of more students and young teachers in their research field.
